Ok..
I am by far no expert on transmissions/gearing..
Not to say I have not done my due diligence on attempting, I am no spring chicken here.
I just can't get the understanding of gear ratios..
With that said.. I ride in Trevorton PA. Mostly trail and some playing on coal hill. Coal hill is, well take a look, loose rock. NOT ME BUT FOR REF>>>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-2FuwgvULkI put in an ecotec 2 years ago and love it.. But I have blown 2 6 ribs so far. This time was because I was practicing 2nd gear launchs and shattered it. (to much right foot and not enough left foot) I think mostly operator error. Learning curve. Call it what you will. stupidity
Some of the guys I ride with run a three rib and swear by the gear ratios are better in the 3 rib vs the 6 rib, they say the 6 rib sucks for gear ratios, and strength of the 3 rib over the 6 rib cuz they beat the snot out of there buggy with big dub motors.
Their knowledge over mine when it comes to buggies is way better but I have been into VDUBS for 20+ years and buggies for 6 years.
I don't have a ton of dough but a budget of maybe 12-1500 bucks to upgrade/rebuild my trans. (was going to buy a 4 seater frame with that money) I now have all winter as I am moving into a new house and this is now my last ride. Save some pennies.
One of my friends just had one built and it cost him way up in the $4500 range. (all...ALL Weddle) DON'T have that money.
I don't want to start a 3/6 rib debate just looking for some sound advice on rear rations 1 & 2nd (31x15x15.5 v treads).
I was looking to go to Rancho and get there pro bus trans 3 rib.
I think also I need to change to a stock clutch and get rid of the 6 puck, still keep the kennedy 1 Pressure plate.
Actually thought about getting the JIG and rebuild myself or just going Subygears.
Thx Guys.
I know passat.... baby chains....
Looking at you transmission guys as to what/where I need to be.
