Ok so that explains why there is only about 6" of shaft showing on the front shocks or you just dont havew enough air in them. Did you set up the towers for a 10" shock

Very nice buggy!! You got my vote!! By the way I guess I may have been wrong about those shocks, but like I said, there is always room for trial and error, If I watch a buggy run on them and the ride is smooth as silk, I may have to convert over to them shocks, I will never know! I hope everything will work out fine for you. I hope you will get the buggy done in time for the Wellsville ride if you're going! Good Luck! :P

Wow that is a very nice machine. I am amazed at how nice some of these new buggies are.

odyknuck, the front shocks only have about 150# of nitrogen in them. At full compression the bottom of the beam clamps are about 3.5" off the ground. The shocks at full droop still have a couple inches of travel. I can't utilize all the travel because the tie rods hit the frame. With 4" longer arms it has a lot of travel, more than I probably need. Both the front and rear will be set to ride height with about 40% of the travel for droop. If you set them up with little to no droop the traction and ride are terrible. Thanks for all the compliments.

nice car!! you might want to move the limit straps, you will break the lower shock bolt off in the arm if you ever have to back down a hill, and the way tweed designs those arms, youll have a blast tryin to get the bolt out. (i've done this)

I was kind of hoping wildpinto would chime in and give us a run down on what he learned about setting up his shocks.

At first I would have told everyone that the nitrogen fox shocks suck but like any thing theay needed a little attition or maybe alot it took me several calls to fox leading me no where then I purchased a set of Bilstein pro racing shocks with 3 internal bypass 39"long with 14" of travel with dueal rate coils from OFFROAD ENGINEERING Where I met a man Michael Randolph #619-298-4455 he is the man. I told him about the sagging problem and me backing the rear with a fox emoultion shock to make it more stable and not so spoungy he told me to add 10cc per about a 1/8 in rise in ride heigth I ended up adding about 130cc per shock and it put me at about 1.5"of sag which is where we wanted it. When theay are right you can drive into a rock ledge and it not bounce in the air and it recover also the shocks can be adjusted in about 2 min to make it softer or harder when the ride heigth is set so your big frind can ride or your mopad try this with a coil I set buggys up both ways nitrogen has no frequency where coils and torsion do coils with dueal rate springs are not as bad not to step on any bodys toes but torsion is old news espically with cheap shocks

I know the link below has been posted on a lot of different websites but it does have some valuable information. If you are considering fox air shocks I would take a look at it. This link has nothing to do with the emulsion shocks that would need to be run with some other torsion or coil over to hold the buggy up. The link is discussing the use on a rock crawler so not everything will be accurate to our use, but can be adapted. There are a lot of factors to consider when setting these shocks up like shock oil weight, quantity of shock oil, valving, nitrogen pressure and mounting position. I know you wouldn't think mounting position would have anything to do with it but they need to be as vertical as possible for proper performance. Here is the link:

Also try here, www.glamisdunes.com they seem to run them a lot out west.

I would like to thank wildpinto and 40degnorth for the info.I have been messing around with the shocks I added 110 cc to each shock and dropped my nitro to 300 psi i have about a 40% ride height.which is a good starting point for me.I am now also convinced that i will not need the torsion bars.

keep playing with the oil level and nitrogen and you can get it after all the same shocks will support a monster truck with a few extra on each corner

so i am planning on going with the 2.0 air shox on the back of my buggy... I will be ordering them through dave t. (FOX SHOX on here) and plan on having them within 4-6 weeks. We have decided on the stock 40-90 valving on the 14 inch travel or 40-80 valving on the 16 inch travel, havent decided on how much travel i am going with, i am going to measure for travel on my buggy tomorrow. I plan on updating you guys with some trail reports on them this summer. I'll only be running them in the rear for now by the way.
