Have any of you been to Hillsvile Pa. I have heard that it was closed , but met a guy yesterday that said he could get me in. Just wondering what it's like.

That’s where I learned to ride. It's an active strip mine so make sure your not riding where they are blasting. It is huge, as big if not bigger than Wellsville and if you like hills, that’s pretty much all there is. It’s hill after hill after hill with some nasty hills. Some of the hills if you go down you have to hit the cutter as soon as you get to the bottom and go straight back up or you will be in some deep water. I had some pictures posted years ago on dune-buggy.com I will see if I can find them and post them. If you can get in, do it, you wont regret it. Let me know if you can because I have wanted to go for the past 4years. I could keep going on and on, I will talk to you in Wellsville about it.

i used to ride there many moons ago. pretty sure it was a strip mine back in the day. wide open hills with barly any trees. one place that stood out was called the fish bowl ,a very deep crater with a small pond at the bottom. the main climb was long and steep, this is where i was first introduced to railbuggys. i have heard of a few guys that still ride there but the last i heard its closed and has been for quite a while. if you hook up with someone that has a place to park and unload and can lead you in let me know ied love to ride there again.

I was there 3 weekends ago didn't see any buggy though. I was on my quad riding with my boys. Let me know Dean, it's only 20 minutes away from me. It's actually between me and Sharon, Pa, where you are working now.

Search hillsville on youtube or myspace and you can find videos of some dirt bikes there just to give you an idea what is like. Personally I liked it better than Wellsville. I drove up there with my wife 2years ago and it there were several trucks with trailers parked in the field behind the fireworks store.

If you go make sure you know what on the other side of the hill before you climb it. Some of them drop 200’ straight down into a water hole.

We climbed 96.872% of maddog last time down there. It looked like no one has been out the top of it in several years.

I'm in love!!! That looks awesome.

There are a couple limestone quarries near my house. We go in and climb their stockpiles at night but they are nothing like that.

Wow those pics are old. IIRC I took them back in 97-98 when hillsville was "wide open."
