Hell yeah, I'll meet yall there. It's only 2.5 hrs west of me. Turkey Bay offroad area, It's located slam in the middle of LBL. It's actually one of few places I haven't ridden. I used to drive thru there pretty often with my last job. Probably 4-5 times a month for 7 years. I finally stopped in to check it out. I remember the prices being resonable, but the rules were pretty strict. I've always heard that it wasn't worth the time to get there for riding. That they were always closing random trails due to erosion and tree hugger bullshit. It is a national park or something isn't it? Figures, anyways, I hope someone can chime in and prove me wrong. I'd still be willing to check it out sometime if anyone is interested.

i have been there last year,its about 1.5 hours north of me u can camp there on the lake,trhey do patrol that place but never said anything 2 us,marty im ready when u are

Most of the guys I used to ride with only ride at LBL. I've been many times and it is a good place to ride. Lots of good hills, but most are short steep hills and a lot of them are rutted out real bad. They are kinda strict there. No bolted tires, the riding area keeps getting smaller, no riding after dark, speed limits enforced on main road, no alcohol (at least that's what they have posted), and I don't think they allow you to make new trails anymore.

there are some deep ruts there,u better have some 36 in. or taller tires,i seen some pretty tall hills when i was there last year

Weve been going there on and off for 10 years they are getting stricter every year still a good place to ride for a couple of days,whenever you guys decide to go me and a buddy will meet up with ya there,you can drink beer but have to be very careful we always hide our coolers that way theres no reason to look in one if they dont see it.

Come on Fireplug we have about any thing you want except smooth dirt hills, lot of loose rock,ruts,tree roots some dirt some red sand. They dont mess with us much any more when the forrest service first took over they was out to prove a point and they did but it has got back to about the same old place just no night rides. It is on Ky lake between aurora and cadiz. I have been going there for a long time (30 minutes from home) and I think you will enjoy!

Hey, anyone still thinking about trying out Turkey Bay? Me and the 'ol lady was thinking of heading that way this weekend for a day or so. Depends on if I get off my sorry ass and finish putting my buggy back together. I saw an episode of "TRUCKS" this weekend and they were testing a jeep at LBL. Looked like a good place to ride around and beat the heat with some ice cold refreshments...

be careful about the ice beverages because they watch people every now and then

I went there last weekend and had a good ride. Didn't have any trouble with the cold beverages, but I was warned that they have searched vehicles and coolers for alcoholic beverages. I was even told not to pick up littered cans because someone was ticketed there for open containers.

I haven't seen it before but I guess because of Memorial day, they had a road block on the Trace where you turn to go to Turkey Bay.

I was there this last weekend. the trails are nice. especially the blue marked trails. they are not as rocky. since forestry has taken over they have closed some trails, but there is still more than a days ride without hitting the same trail twice. the fee is not bad..if that what it takes to keep the park open i will be glad to pay $60 a year

OK, my wife and I made the trip to Turkey Bay yesterday. Every bad thing I have ever heard about the place was proven wrong to me within minutes. We were going to meet up with WildcatOffroad9606 and his riding crew but we decided to get there a few hours early and have a look around. We didn't know where to go or which trails to hit even though we picked up a free map. We rode to the end of the gravel road and to my surprise, there were 5 buggies sitting there fixin to take off. I rolled up to one of them and asked if we could follow them around. Their reply was "the more the merrier". They were a group from Metropolis, Ill.
It was awesome. The trails are nice (although rocky in places) and there are plenty of hills to climb. Some hills good for playing around on, some extreme hills that'll really test your buggy and driving ability. A definite "must see" for anyone who wants to have a good time among a really cool bunch of buggy-ers.
We did end up meeting up with Wildcat and his crew later on that day. Talk about a nice guy and a nice family! We had the opportunity to get to know them and get some quality seat time. It's a place I won't forget and I (we) look forward to going back soon and often!

Hey Larry,
Yeah, we're planning to be at D&K that weekend. I'm also bringing another guy, possibly two that we met at LBL. Met some really cool people last weekend. I can't believe we didn't go sooner.
The wife likes the buggy much better than the baja. It's longer, wider, you sit lower and it's just all around more stable. Plus the baja always kinda gave you a claustrophobic feeling... It's harder to see out of, and hot. It would never go like the buggy either. I still miss it though, it was always a blast for mild offroading and driving to work.
So when are y'all gonna get to D&K? Where you gonna park? You got that big ass trailer ready to roll yet? I think we're gonna try to leave outta BG thursday evening. We haven't set anything in stone, but we wanna ride as much as possible on friday.

The Fred Sanford Racing enclosed gooseneck has been in use for several rides now! You wont miss it, its red , white and oxidized !! Make sure you stop by!!
Its ugly, but it pulls good, holds two buggies and all the junk that goes with them easily, and has A/C !!
Best thing is I dont have to worry about scratchin or denting it, because you'd never be able to tell it!

I'll prolly get there Thursday evening , too.
I believe Friday will definately be the day for trail riding and playin in the woods.
The hillclimb will no doubt eat up most of Saturday's daylight.
Then there's Willies party Sat. night in the playground !! Sunday mornin is gonna be rough.

Going to Turkey Bay this Saturday. There should be a good group from western KY there along with several from TN. Not many Woodsbuggy.com riders but a good group to ride with. Come on up if you can.

I can not make it Saturday. Let me know the next time you plan on riding there. We will be there a week from Sunday unless something happens.
