I went on a rafting trip in Oak Hill, WV back 3 weeks ago and had a blast on the New River and the Gauley River. Some of my friends want to go in the spring. I need to find an off road place within a hour or so of the 2 rivers so that we can take 4/5 days and do some buggy riding and some rafting.

If anyone knows of something, please let me know. If anyone wants to come with, please let me know. I will be making reservations and scheduling the trip after the 1st of the year.

Chris

Acording to mapquest you wil be about 116.5 miles or 1:54 min drive from the "Cold Spot" where Dean rides or 247.5 miles or 3:55 min from Wellsville.

Hopefully we can find something a bit closer, but if not I guess we will be traveling to the cold spot. Can you give me an address for it?

I went down the Upper Gualley a couple years ago. That is pretty extreme. We went over a waterfall in a rubber boat. That is the dumbest and most fun thing I have ever done. I fell out twice in the rapids. That will give you new respect for the power of moving water.

We went on a sunday morning at dawn. It was 35 degrees outside and the water temp was 48. We hit the first class 5 about 4 minutes after putting in the water......I am a big guy and I was about 3 feet above the boat when we hit the bottom of the rapid and someone else fell on top of me!! That's how you wake up in the morning.

I fell out on Suckers Go Right, and The Iron Ring. Our guide was pretty cool. He asked us if we wanted to go big or just get down the river. Of course we said go big, and go big he did. What did you think about Lost Paddle (don't know if every guide calls the rapids the same name) It was like 4 rapids back to back about a mile long.

At one point I found myself totally under water, then laying in the bottom of the boat with 2 others on top of me, then hanging out of the boat, after that is was a blur.
