i'm lookin for a new/used 74 or maybe even a 78. I currently have a stock motor, was going to go w/c but dont have the funds anymore. Now here's my delima, i am the smallest motor in the group with a 1641, the next motor closest to mine is a 1915. And they're as high as 2332. I need some more power some way cheap. I already got the 2 barrel carb, v treads, 3 rib. I just dont have the money to send it to the machine shop, or i would build the 2054 i do want. this is the start of it, i jsut need to keep up. I can trade some parts also if anything is needed. I dont have much but ill try.

87mm piston and a 74mm crank is 1759cc.
You will still be the mallest engine out there.
Even with the 78mm crank you will still be the little guy at 1855cc.

IMHO, I'd run what you have till you save the cash for something a bit bigger.

I'd love to wait and build what i want, but i need some power now. lol. They're eating me up on the hills. I cant think of any other way to get some more power, i already have a 110 cam in there and i wanna cut for 94's, but im gonna be 500 in real quick

You are still gonna be smaller than the next smallest engine so that is not gonna help you pass that guy.

Even a 74 is not drop in.
You have to clearance the case in this area to make it fit without the edge of the rod hitting the case.

cut your tires, put some 1.25 rockers in and run the 1641 for now. I used to climb all kinds of stuff with my 1641... besides, youre going to have to put bearings in, mains, rods, cam, theres extra cash, engine gasket set, and whatever else to gain very little power...

gettin it punched out for 94's is only like 10 bucks a hole, then find some good cylinders, i'd give you a set but i exploded all mine.

Run the 1641. If your not getting around very well in it, it may need a little tuning. 1641 and a 3-rib is darn good economical woods combo. Get your wheel speed up and let it eat! Its not all about power.

im with jeff on this ,,,,,get u some 1.25 rockers and a used set of 94 jugs and pistons and through in a new set of rings, bearings, and maybe have new bushings in the rods which i would all of this even if i was just putting in a crank and not bigger jugs.... jmo
