I beat the shit out of my aluminum bead locks and haven’t really caused any damage except to the bead lock ring. The unsprung weight is where it counts. I went from 120lb each studded v-treads with beefed up steel wheels to 54lb each aluminum bead locks. It was like going from a weak 1600 to a 2500.

Every pound you add to your wheel equates to aproximately 50 pounds of turning weight. So yes it makes a big difference.

go outside with two tires.

step 1) roll the steel wheel with tire and all up the hill approx 100 feet.

step 2) roll the aluminum wheel with tire and all up the hill approx 100 feet.

step 3) determine which step you would like to repeat again step 1 or step 2?

You buggy and motor and tranny thinks the same thing.
