Who among us has a source for HDPE, or Teflon in 1/4 " . I need it for chain glide..at least 2 or 3 inches wide by at least 6 or 8 inches long. The HDPE is the same as kitchen cutting board and is cheap enough on Ebay. but the Teflon is better but much more expensive on ebay. |

Will the HDPE hold up to the friction for long? My brother has a few small blocks of Delrin that are tough as nails and very slick. You may want to try some of it. I'll try to ask him today where he got it. |

Ask him for any questions like this, he will answer for you. |

Firebug- You may also have luck getting it at your local Rubber & Gasket store. In Nashville it is called Nashville Rubber & Gasket. Motion Industries may have it also. You could also try Grainger. I would stay away from Delrin. I use it every day and I think it is not flexible enough to take the beating you want to give it where the other 2 are a more flexible product and can handle more abuse. Chris |

Here is a part number from McMaster&Carr... 8769K51 12x12x1/4 UV resistant UHMW Price is $7.81. I used some of this stuff as a chain slide on a conveyor system a few years ago. Great stuff! |

Wow,,I am really impressed at all the responses to this topic. Brian,,I am not sure if flexibility is a factor. I guess the only way to find out is trial and error. I got nearly a year out of some hdpe and it still was not wore out when I changed it. Thanks for all the help and keep it coming. |

What I meant by flexible was is that Delrin is not giving at all. It will break and crack much easier than the other materials when stress or tension is applied. But it sounds like you are getting something to try. BTY I am Chris.....Brian is the smart one. |
