This is a hard to find transmission. It is what vw used to replace one under warranty. It has all 091 internals, 1-4th gear, 091 diff, and 091 5.42 ring and pinion but comes with a 3 rib case. It is in perfect working condition. Iam located in the northeast corner of mississippi just a few minutes from Brutons Branch. 600.00 662-665-1995

An 002 style 542 was a replacement for 3 rib 538's. An 091 style was for some 80-82 Vanagons with a VW diesel Rabbit motor with 48 hp. They did 0-50 in 49 secs. WOW! They were 3 rib but had six rib internals with the side shift on the nose. I brought a many back from Europe where they were more popular. I used to pull them from junk yards in Germany ,France, Italy and the U.K. I once was the "Go to Guru" for all these different trans to help people. There was no money to be made running around Europe at $10 gal. It was a feeling of helping people til I wound up in a court case. Some pukes just want to screw you out of what ya got.

I will have to disagree on this. I have had 2 of these transmissions before. It is NOT a side shift, but is a 091bolt together case case with a 5.42.
