a little more info on what you looking for and a loctaion might get quicker replys probably a bunch of stock stuff floating around in your area especially if you not going to have any front brakes |

I currently have spindle wheels and would like to have front brakes so I need backing plates, drums, wheels, etc. I live in a very remote area and these items are not easy to find locally. I live in eastern Oregon near the Idaho border. |

Why would you want to convert to spindle? I have a nice set of front Douglass wheels, what wheels do you have? |

The only reason I would like to have spindle mount rims is because, I dont need front brakes. Woods only buggy, Front wheels dont turn when locked up. As for my rims, All I have is stock steel wide five. Might have five of them but not sure if i kept the others. I have already removed the backing plates from my buggy, so I just bolted on the drum. Also removed the rear backing plates. So I dont need those either, (off a irs rear, vw 4) pretty sure the cylinders is still in them. |

Take the front drums to a shop and cut the drum off and use the center to bolt on your wheels. One thing to note about spindle mount aluminum wheels or spindle mount steel is they have way less strength for the the hard core terrain I would just cut the drum section off. I did this like 25 years ago. Still running them today. Just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.

If i already removed all the backing plate and everything else in there, Is there really a reason to have the drums turned down. Only thing I can see a problem in would be, 1. looks someone would be able to see the drum, 2. place for more mud to collect, 3. weight, unsprung? it is already going to be pretty light up front, My old man always used to run a front bumper that was weighted to help keep the front down while going uphill, I guess alot of people around haspin and the property ran these not sure, I was young. |

The reasons to cut them down, you nailed. Other than that there is no reason. I did it because I had a lathe that I had access to. That is how I made the rear brake set that I run. Very little money and the ability to engineer my own solution. |
