Are the aluminum covers too heavy? Is that why everyone uses trash cans? I made mine from .063 aluminum. Is that too heavy?

I bet those just wrinkle under acceleration!!!!! HaHaHa Actually im trying to make a set of covers that are color matched and affordable...The price of aluminum is to high to have them powder coated and still sell them at a price compared to the aluminum ones. Aluminum is one of 3 things...Expensive,high maintence, or tarnished and an ugly grey color. I will also be selling these in primer for a cheaper price for those who want to paint them themselves...

I will post weights after i have made a couple of sets out of different thicknesses to see how thin i can go before they become flimsy like popcans!!!! I will include an unfinished weight and a powder coated weight.

I have been waiting on getting a set back from powder coating to have a conclusive weight. I have changed the material thickness to 20 gauge sheet metal. Im impressed with the weight and strenght. I should have weights and a picture of a powder coated set some time before next week.

Im at 1lb. 2 ounces average on a raw uncut 4" tall filter cover. Im not going to powder coat the covers due to the difference in carb./link bar setups....i would hate for everyone to have to cut on them after they are powder coated..However if you live close enough you can stop buy and we will fit the covers and send them off to get powder coated . Price will be $50.00 a set for both 4" and 7" covers in raw form. Some light hand sanding may be required to acheive a satisfactory finish around top of filter. I will post price for powder coating and weight of 7" filters tomorrow.

I've got to make a set for Ron Cummins Sunday. If i send your set with his would that be OK or would you rather me mail them to your address. Just send me a PM with your Phone # and address if you want them sent to your address.
