Well in the short time I've been member of the site I've had a TREMENDOUS amount of help/info and overall great luck with every single thing I've posted so figured I give it a shot and see if I could find a good reliable motor for my rail. Currently running a DP1641 that still runs pretty good but has room for improvement. The last post I made in classifieds lookin for a set of 15x12 beadlocks in central Ky, I don't think was even posted an entire day and a fellow board member called and had a nice set of beadlocks for lot less than I was planning on spending on a set. I would consider another fairly fresh 1641cc with or without heads ( I have a good set of DP heads to use), but would like to go with 1776cc,1835cc or even 1915cc if price is right. : Have cash in hand and would like to find one before end of all this warm weather. I'm still sporting the lil 1641 but here lately starting to smoke the trails up a little and I'll put it like this, it's been ran for a LONG LONG time by previous owners and I just hate goin on these long rides in unfamiliar woods in shape it's in. I'm located in Glasgow, Ky (round 30 miles east of Bowling Green) but can travel if needed. Like I said with or without heads, would even go for a good case with good cam/crank,etc and I'll buy new jugs/pistons. Not real picky as LONG AS IT"S NOT JUNK or crazy expensive! Starting to aquire a few VW parts that I'd do trading on if I've got anything someone needs.
-I have a complete ball joint front beam with tie rods (some of which need ends replaced), has the common rust in mainly just the shock mounts, we took and welded/patched the shock mounts and I ran it on my other rail with no issues. No steering box on this. $75 or if possible would simply trade for a kit to rebuild my king pin front end. (I'm assuming I need new bushings? this is my 1st KP front end
-have a set of 15x14 steel vw wheel (4 lug) that I just took off buggy. One wheel has holes drilled for screws (don't ask why only one of em is drilled) Painted grey and pretty straight, do have some dings and scratches but still work good. Not sure on backspace but I'll try and measure.$60
-Have a good car IRS transaxle that was on another buggy. I know for fact it works great. take $65
-Also have 2 rochester 2bbl carbs and intake with all linkage that was on buggy when I got it. $80 for carbs, intake and even have air cleaner
-last I have an old Solex pict 30 single port carb that I just took off last week, ran fine just went with a 2 barrel setup. $35 for carb and intake
-also have a good T trailer that I've been using to haul my rail, has wide 5 vw wheels and painted black, for 2" ball and . Pulls straight as an arrow at 80mph. ONLY REASON i'd consider selling is cause since adding the new beadlocks, they were diff offset than old wheels and rail will barely fit on trailer. Wheels on trailer are already turned backwards just so it'll fit now.HAD trailer lights until the other day. Still has wiring harness and I still have lights that were on it. Had to remove lights to load/unload rail since adding the wider wheels/tires. Plannin on adding 3x3 arms and NO way mine will fit with those. Not sure if anyone would have T trailer a little wider that they'd want to trade for this one but I'd definetly be interested. Has good tires and just packed wheel bearings. Hauled my rail 2 months ago on 6hr round trip, never had single problem with it. $300
-and last I'd like to have around a 8 gallon spun aluminum fuel tank, not sure if someone would be interested but I'm using an 8-12 gallon stainless Keg thats had a filler neck added on top and outlet welded on bottom of it. Not a thing wrong with it, in fact gets quite a few questions and comments, I'd just like to have something longer and not as "tall" if that makes any sense. Specifically one like in this link would be perfect!
