A few asked for more pictures. If i remember correctly its a 400 SB with an automatic Cadillac trans and custom trailing arms. DVS1 you need to give all the details.

DETAILS PLEASE!!! Is that an eldorado/toronado transaxle? How does it perform? Do the front wheels stay down? R u going to wheelers on the 26th? And nice job I love it! |

It is a 400sbc with a 75 Cadillac Eldorado trans. All GM 1 ton driveline. I can't thank Subysteve enough for the MANY hours of work he put in it. |

That's enormous amount of work to put in a tranny that was designed to run down the interstate. Did you some how change the gearing? Back about 20 year ago I used the same tornado trans in a VW build,(454 mounted in rear). At that time there were no aftermarket parts available. Also did you dry sump, or run your right axle thru the oil pan? |

We di not change gearing yet but its in the works. The oil pan has a hump through it for the axle. The only gear set I can find is from appliedgmc.com but they are a little pricey. I've been looking for a set of planetary hubs like you would find on the front of a 4x4 back hoe. The tranny is geared to high but if we can find these hubs it get about an extra 20to1 ratio at the wheel. They are neat but heavy. We need a tractor salvage yard to look through. |

He can look at Firebuggys this weekend. It is a good Chaindrive set up for smaller buggys. |

has anyone thought to put more power to the trans? dont know how strong the trans is but if you cant get the gear it is easy to get power from the sbc.. i have a pump gas 355 should make right around 500 horse would love to put it in my buggy now this setup has me thinking!! would love to see some vids and input on how the trans works with cutters and how the brakes work with the added weight |

If you do it put a hi stall converter init. The 400 hits the converter like a brick wall. |
