im just wandering how one of those race buggys would climb in the woods and how it hold up to our kind of abuse
I know that racing conditions are tough but if its like late model dirt cars some parts are more or less designed to break and replaced without tearing up a lot of other sh!t in the process :?:
it would be great to have a some what dual purpose buggy that you race today and go hill climbing tomorow imo

IMHO Change the rear tires and a Race Buggy is good to go for the Woods. They are built really strong and have plenty of heavy duty supension to handle the terrain..

I got first place  I can tell you from experience that my race buggy sucks in the woods. Even with cut aired down boggers, it doesn't want to go. I built it with alot more forward weight than a woods car, witch makes it handle better, but it doesn't want to climb. If I get a run, it will climb! Ody's right, the car can handle the woods. Everything on it is about the strongest you can get. The only thing I would beef up is the floor and the tree bars. The floor is only .060 alum, so its pretty flimsy.

Congrats on the win. Awsome looking fun! I know what you mean by the foward weight. My car is the Stalker cab foward design and it tends to be nose heavy on the hils and plows instead of skimming the surface.

You probably have to run a higher geared tranny, where we run low gear bus tranny.

I think my first gear would be a sweet hill climbing gear. The gearing also limits me to a slow top speed. I believe with 33" tires at 6500 rpm my buggy would be going like 93 mph. I put a 7000rpm chip in it for that extra little bit if I need it in a long straight away. The backstrech of that track was so long that I was hitting the rev limiter every lap if I wanted too. 5th gear would be sweet

WOOO!!! Thats what I'm talkin about. If I changed my tranny Id gear it higher to bust 100mph up in the top. "I wanna go fast" - Ricky Bobby wooo shake and bake!
