What carb? If a 34pict do you have 12 volts from the ignition switch to the electromagnetic cut off valve (16). If you don’t it won’t allow gas into the carb.

Could be the points or if it electronic then you might of hooked it up to your coil backwards.

Well , there's your problem. :D I know a lot of top notch line mechanics that are baffled by an ac vw. Think simpler! dont overlook the obvious.

Is it just cranking and not even trying to hit?
do you have 12 volts going to the +side of the coil? for sure?
Is it cranking fast enough?
Whats it do if you try a good squirt of starting fluid in the carb?
Are the ignition components Bosch?
Almost gotta be a wiring or getting fuel to carb issue if it ran on the stand and nothing has changed but it wont fire on the buggy.

good luck with it.
Larry

its cranking like it should b, if i squirt starting fluid in it it just does the same thing i can see the fuel going down the carb so i know its not starving for fuel and all the componets r not bosch

Its spark. Something is not right. Take a aligator clip wire and connect it to the + on coil, then run it to the + on the starter and crank it. That will insure power to the coil. These motors are super simple air, fuel, spark, noise.

You mentioned you get spark out of the coil. Are you actually getting spark to the plugs? have you pulled the plugs to check to see if they are fouled or flooded out with gas? Also are you sure the distributer is tight and has not turned on you?

With the distributer cap off does the distributer turn. Is the rotor on top of the distributer? Have you tryed a different rotor and or distributer cap? Have you checked to see if the the cap is cracked and the spark is going straight to ground bypassing the plugs?

Inside the cap there is a contact point below the coil wire connection . The rotor spring clip touchs it. Is it stiil there? Is your rotor spring clip bent up enough to touch it. Some rotors have a resister between the spring clip and the outer contact swipe tip. Measure it with an OHM meter to be sure you have continuity. If you want call me at 216-695-0733

With the cap off. Can you turn the rotor button by hand? If so then your distributer has lifted up and is not locked into your drive gear. Seen this happen a few times. Brackets bend or your gear doesn't have washers under it.JMO
