I just bought a new horse. 1993 First generation 12 valve Cummins. 79K Orig. miles. Rust free and very tight. From southern California. This should be the last truck I will ever buy. I plan to paint it this summer. My new buggy hauler should easily tow my toy box or anything else I might need. It's name is "BUD" (big ugly dodge)

A lot can be said for mechanical injection. I have heard very good mpg ratings from the early Cummins. It seems the more pollution crap they add the worse the mileage gets. I would think using more fuel would offset the benefits but then again I'm not a tree hugger, I'll cut any tree down that you want as long as you pay the bill. |

That is correct......I ended up taking the factory exhaust off of the truck and ran a turbo-back 4" Magnaflow exhaust system with the catalytic converter delete and EGR valve delete kit too. Basically I am running the 2003 6.0L like the old ones and it gained me awesome MPG over the old 15mpg to 19 mpg and no more EPA pollution-control crap anymore just like old Powerstrokes with the modern technology now. By the way, you did good on the find, finding an older, first generation Dodge in that good of shape and low mileage that is very hard to find and it will probably never happen finding one like it again, good job! |

I htink you need to rename her, she might take offence and leave you stranded on the side of the road. Then a tow truck will show up and shell fire up and laugh as you pay the bill! Roy thats an awsome find! I found one like it here and the guy wanted 5000, but the bad was it over 200000 miles on it. Gaurd it and insure the hell out it. I got 23 mpg out my old one and only 15 out my 04. |

I won't even tell you what I paid for it. It would make you sick. It took me 2 months to talk the guy out of it |

The guy in Nashville Tn that Shoes my brother's horses has one with over 600000 on it and it is still pulling a 6-horse trailer up and down Mont-Eagle Tn [for the ones that don't know thats a bad ass mt grade hard climb either way] going from Nashville to Chattanooga .No sign of retiring it yet My brother has a 06 4 door Cummings he would not take nothing for it he also said "This is my last truck" |

I am sure I will tweak it. There is so much you can do to these things it's unbelievable. The thing has plenty of power, I am more interested in economy and boosting the MPG! |

I tweaked my 2nd gen 98 dodge 12v with a #6 fuel plate from TST Products and didn't change my mileage @ all. The fuel plate upgrade is very easy to install and the power increase is huge. I don't know ? tranny u have but if its an auto get a valve body kit before you up the power. I blew 1 tranny and 3 torque converters before getting my line pressure kit. I now have 300k + miles since with no trans failures. |

Power increase is a lot more with it removed but I wouldn't rec amend it on a early 98 |

That's an awesome find Roy, good buy. I owned my 02 for about three days and the automatic transmission went out of it with no prior indication of any problems. I had it built up stronger with some extra's and I haven't had any problems since then. |
