Below are the pictures of the buggy that I dreamed up in 1987. It only took me untill 2003 to build it. Back in 1987 everyone said the setup would not work in the woods. Now rack and pinion, 44IDF's, v-treads, six ribs, front brakes, wide front beams, and 2x3 arms are the norm. A wedding/divorce sent the buggy to a new home...but there will be another, more modern one to come!

Those crazy people that think they can change the world are the only ones that ever do!

I remember seeing that buggy down at Wellsville. I feel for buddy, divorce caused me to sell all my toys also. Now maybe the next one won't take 16 years to build. Done by next spring sounds good to me!

Thanks for the kind words about my long lost baby guys! I only got to run the car a few times after building it so if you saw it, it was most likely Rich, the current owner. The front end was a 6" wider beam, stock arms w/long travel shock mounts, and 3" raised spindles from Drew's. The steering "quickner" was actually used backwards to slow things down. The rack was a little too quick and hard to turn so I bought the sprint car steering "quickner" and ran it backwards to make a kind of poor man's power steering. I liked it but it was built with no seals or grease fittings so I had to add a zerk and grease it every time it was washed. The car was my first build but I was born and raised in Wellsville (started going there to ride in my dad's baja bug in 1978) so I had a little bit of an inside edge for how to build one. I still made a number of mistakes and learned a few new tricks. Due to work, money, and new house, I will be sporting my old dual sported yz426 dirt bike next year but a Subaru turbo powered coil-over car should be done by Memorial day 2010. Long time off but good things come to those who wait....Still trying to engineer a woods workable front a-arm setup! :)

Mike, seeing that your a "local" Wellsville resident if you hear anything about Yellow Creek that we all should know please post it to keep us up with current news.
Sorry if I hi-jacked the thread.
Mike

I think I just had a glitch posting, but anyways. I moved away from Wellsville a long time ago but my mother still lives there and I still have some good friends there that keep me up on local events. I will certainly post any info that I come across about the opening and/or closure of Wellsville. Memorial Day was a milestone for the place and 99% of the locals have no idea what happened. People came from as far away as South Georgia to ride and SPEND MONEY. The locals have still not caught on to the tourism idea. They still want to see industry take up space there but I wonder what industry could pour as much money into the area as a bunch of offraoders...buggies, jeeps, quads, bikes. Funny how talk of closing Wellsville and bringing in some type of manufacturing on the land increases when we get closer to election time?! How can any manufacturing plant be built there? There isn't a flat spot there...that's why we go there isn't it? Time will tell but untill people with big guns chase me off I will ride bikes and buggies in those hills. I will post any info I get.
