Is the front edge of the lugs rounded off? I always thought people sharpened them. They look good.

yeh its definately a work out! my shoulders are killin me, but no pain no gain! so just when i thought all was good, i decided to sharpen the lugs on the 60/40's some more so back to takin out more rubber  its amazing how thick it is on the outers and sides but not so much in the center where the tire comes together. and were using the tire grinding disc to smooth them out. another touchy tool  heres a couple more pics.ImageImage

Are you wanting to cut 2 paddles then leave one then cut 2 leave 1 ....And do you cut any rubber off the center of the tire like we do for the dirt... for flex ?

Post subject:  Re: tire cutting 101

well took a break on the tires for awhile to rehab another buggy! but the 50/50 are done as their getting and can be seen in this video. the 60/40 set are still being sharpened and more grinding is takin place. have a video of the grinding process as well. i know this video doesnt actually show you how to cut the tires but if you cant figure that part out you shouldnt be playing with HOT knifes anyways   just another drunken stuper video for you to enjoy. will update next week with more vids and pics of the finished product.

i probably was stoned   ye old ghetto groover    i'll never live that one down now   the other groover is a southwest speed? thats the name on the front? its one of our buddys, but its the same as a van alstine, works killer! and yeh i forgot about telling you guys to keep the knife away from your face  i was bent over the tire trying to be all precise, and when the knife went thru the rubber BAM right in the old kisser- cut my lip and the tip of my nose, pretty good. gotta scar to prove it  i couldnt make dirty turtle cause obama needed me to keep an eye on north korea

Where online did u get stones for 310

Author:  diamonddav [ Mon Apr 15, 2013 6:24 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: tire cutting 101

i dont know darrell got them off e bay or something. that price was per tire also. here is a video showing how the tire grinding disc works to smooth out the cuts. makes a hell of a mess thats for sure! we are using an adjustable speed control buffer. i dont think a regular 4 inch grinder would be easy to control, it would probably cut rite thru the tire

DO WHAT  these tires have no center when there a 60/40 cut! you open up the centers to make the tire softer. and believe me these tires are soft as a babys ass! they are ground down smooth to as close to the cords i could get without seeing them everywhere. ihave a set 50/50 on my buggy, and im pretty sure these are gonna walk all over them
