This poem is about Smokey Falls.That rock wall that Jesse posted last week.Here it goes,. Can we turn down the lights please? Is the mic on? a um. I remember ole Smokey drove up in '04 or 5. We never knew if he were dead or alive. He said,"D.D. show me something that nobody has climbed. I thought and thought and nothing rhymed.So I took him to a wall. His frame had been re-welded so many times the joints looked like a walnut ball.Slick truck tires he found on the side of the road.They pointed in all directions, cambered and towed.He had borrowed a wo'out motor. It was a front end toter.I said,"Smokey you'll kill yourself, my friend!"He said , "Wachis!"as he looked at the rock with a grin, 'said "go call the next of kin." I gotta go back to jail, and do some more time,so what the hell if I fail"So he reved it up, side stepped the clutch,but didn't do much.Rolled back a tad, just got mad.The Ole Rock laughed at him and his luck went dim.Smokey got real hot, took off like a slingshot, told the world good-bye, I'll do or die. The metal came crashing down with a terrible sound.So he had to get mean, I mean mad dog mean, this ain't all you've seen!Reved up to 6 gran! Big rock I'll show you I can!The Ole Rock was laughin, Smokey was smokin.'LOOK ole fat rock, I gotta go to jail, then to hell.I might never get to come back to Fultondale! The Ole Rock started to grin as Smokey's 2 bald tires hit his chin.Up thru the sky about 10 foot high, it was a sight to be seen, the angels singed, the buggy landed and went Cha Ching!He turned around and slid down his face.He said,"Rock, you thought I'd flip but I busted your lip.You got me mad , turned me red, but I landed on your head! ...........The End A year or so later he came out and climbed and named Smokey Mtn. We never seen him again after he rode off into the sunset. But we sure do miss him.Anybody know his whereabouts? |

Last I heard ole smokey was workin at Gene martins car lot. He was or is a mechanic there. i saw him a year or so ago at greg adkins house. He was actually cleaned up and presentable. I miss that dude he is by far the best buggy driver ive ever seen or rode with. He climbed hills with half the buggy I had and made me and lots of others look like a joke. Nothing would tickle me more to see him back ridin.

we need to get these guys back in the woods or out for a ride so maybe they get the itch again would be fun to ride with smokey and others that use to ride |

Someone mentioned that Smokey worked at Gene Martins Auto Sales in Jemison. Gene Martin was sent to prison and he lost his business. His business is for sale, so I know Smokey doesn't work there now. |

Like I said, last I heard he was working there. The business stayed open for a while after gene went to prison. |

Ill be there, cant wait to to see old smokey. Man we had some good times ridin off 145 in calera. What about busby? He needs to get out a blow the cob webs out of that beast he has. Just let me know for sure and ill get some more people up. |
