That was pretty much the reaction of everyone over the weekend that saw what I managed to do to my buggy at dirt (mud) days. Everyone kept saying "Did you hit a tree???" NO... "Did you jump 8 feet in the air???" NO... Just hit a wash rut at about 15 mph and heard a pop from hell. Didn't even spot the wheel camber until I was back at camp having a beer.

I really can't complain. First trip out and the only thing that failed was something I bought not built. That made me as happy as I could be for the situation. :? The rest of the buggy performed exactly as expected.

A special thanks to all the guys at Drew's Offroad and the Buggy Works inc. guys for all their kind words on my build and for offering their time and tools to fix the problem. Had it been a slightly smaller problem, I would have taken you guys up on the offer. Really a top notch group of people (and buggies). 8)

How did those rear tyres work out, I've just bought a set but haven't run them yet. What sort of pressure you running?

Pacific customs actually. I figured these would be stronger than the tubular appletree arms. I was bummed. I was having a good time beating that thing friday night til I noticed that. a couple people that looked at it closely said the weld had poor penetration. I needed better brakes anyway. I see a microstub upgrade with some quality arms in my future.

I love them, but they are all I have ever run on my buggy so I can't really compare them. Now that I have beadlocks I run them pretty low 5 psi or so. They get me through anything as long as I keep them on the ground, plus they look just streetable enough you can go head into town with them and not attract the police. If you run them without tubes throw half a container of airsoft bb's in each one and they will balance real nice too.

Well, following on from your advice and pictures, we tried adding some extra camber and castor to the front beam this weekend:

But it didn't work, what did we do wrong?

Damn, I'm not sure if it'll go very fast with the roof scoop flattened, but I'll give it a go.
More than 90mph this time, right?
