I need help,please. 96in. wheel base,modified 2300 ford=BIG WHEELY. I can not climb much. Is it a good ideal or bad, to fill the front tires with antifreeze for front end weight. If so how much ? Or is there a better way all together.

The main key to hillclimbing is in the suspension.You need to have your susp. as soft as you can,front and back.The problem you have is your engine weighs alot more than a typ. WV engine.MIKE

I have friends with he exact same setup as you and one had filled several front frame tubes with lead and the other used a big winch to help balance the weight. As far as filling the tires, personally I would not. M.Ralston is exactly right about the suspension, but with all the weight in the rear your front will just act as a spring and bounce off of objects on a hill. Added weight in the front will make the front suspension work and absorb bumps rather than bounce right off of them. Not only that it will help keep that front end down and in more control.

You could put longer trailing arms on. That would change your center of gravity by putting the fulcrum (tires) as far back as you can. My friend had a 100

Agree with hillaholic, trailing arms is the way to stop some of the wheelies. I went to 2x3's and it helped mine from doing wheelies.

I have 2X3 trailing arms and I still need some more weight up front. I'm making a mold for some lead, when it's done ingot it will bolt to my front bumper.

What about a wheelie bar?

My buggy used to pop wheelies with a 1.8 Subaru engine. I built 4x4 rear trailing arms and also lengthened the front 12 inches. Fixed mine. But it wasn't as heave as your Ford engine. Turtle was raring up with his ford and he swapped to vw. He got more power and no wheelies. Try drilling the valves, I heard it fixes everything.

When you get the funds, build some 5" longer trailing arms. That will fix the problem.

I have ran 2.3 ford motors for years and now I run a 2650 stroker with mikunis and nos it is about 285 hp in a woods buggy. Set up is every thing the extra weight behind the tires is traction that is planted to the ground chang your trailing arms to at least 3x3 I run 3x5. set the rear torsion up or make it stiffer and it willbreak the tires loose or chang to a less agresave tire .also adding dead weight to the front isn`t the way to go. try antifreez it will be unsprong weight. JUST REMEMBERTHE HEAVER IT IS THE MORE HP IT TAKES TO PUSH IT. SPEAKING OF LEAD TAKE IT OUT OF YOUR RIGHT SHOE AND FREE UP HP

I had the same problem with my 100" wheel base buggy. didn't have the money for long trailing arms and such. So i got my torch and welder out, Moved my seats forward about 1 Ft'. That 325 pounds or so moved forward does alot toward keeping that front end down.
