Post subject:  What should i do with my front end?

I have a beam thats been cut and turned, but i dont wanna go and redo the bracing on it because when i put it on the straight bar across will cover a decent bit of my vision. So my question is would it be worth it to do a set of raised spindles instead? i wouldnt be able to buy the spud kit i was thinking of taking an extra set i had here (i could go bj or kp spud then) cutting the metal where you mount the spindle, keeping the spud and flat metal behind it, and then fabbing it onto my old spindles.

I would say you could probably go more but I would gusset them. At some point they would bend or fold under. I think 3" max is all Ive ever heard of.

Would you possibly know how much lift i would get tuning the front end 1/4"?

I think it gives about 1 1/2". Adjusters on the beam are supposed to give up to 2" more as well. These are based on stuff Ive read or been told. Ive done both but never measured.

In your first post, I thought I read that the beam was already cut and turned. Maybe I read it wrong?

Anyways, You can be careful with it and leave the springs in. But dont know if its worth the trouble. I've lowered a beetle the same way by using a big pipe cutter to go around the beam bar and taking a sawzall to the last little bit in between the beams. Prolly would ve been just as easy to disassemble the spindles /arms and pull the springs out.
You cut it about 2" to each side of the center grub screw.

The further you drop the spindles, the worse the steering wheel will whip outta your hands. Like DBnut said, 3" is about it if you aint using some sort of power steering.
