maybe somebody can answer this.

can a buggy be setup to land flat of a jump and still be a good hill climbing buggy also?

while we were at iron horse doing the rally race almost every buggy that got any air over the jump would nose dive and i know that these buggys have got to weigh more in the rear than they do the front ?

boyd was the only one that seemed to land flat instead of nose first if you look at the pics in the iron horse post in the pic and vid section.

if they was letting out of jus a little its gonna nose dive,,stay in throttle and it will land flat or on back wheels,,,,when u let out of throttle it unloads the suspension and bounces up

I would agree with Chris. I think acceleration is the trick to not landing on the front. If I can keep my buggy running, I would really like to try and see how it lands.

Softer rear torsion/suspension helps , too. Tight rear torsion will spring the front end down no matter how much you are on the gas.

Unloading the suspension at the base of the jump makes a big difference on how the car reacts to it. A slight tap on the brakes and then fast acceleration a few feet before the base of the jump will cause the supension to decompress and force the car upward. The car will want to compress the supension as you hit the jump, so the more travel you have the better the take off, attitude and landing will be. Keep the throttle on untill you have cleared the jump. Then let off the throttle so you don't impose undue stress on the drive train upon landing. Its your transmissions worst nightmare!

my 2 cents..
Its just like motocross if you keep your rear wheel speed up the front raises..
If you tap the back break to slow down rear wheal speed the nose drops..
Keep it hammerd!!

ive ridden 4 wheelers just a "little" back in the day when bikes like my 250r ruled the tracks of just about any kind. so i know a litlle about jumping and hillclimbing on bikes but these buggies are a different animal because they have a transmission that WILL break if you dont get off the gas when the tires jump off the ground and come back down unless you got 2.5 - 4k tied up in just the tranny and even then its just a matter of how many times it can handle it then

No actually its not just like motocross. The power to weight ratio is totaly different. The wheel base is also a major factor and you can pull up on the handel bars on a bike to keep the front end up. You dont have any of these factors in a 1000# plus 100" long Buggy. The reason for tapping the brakes is to get the springs in a rebound motion that helps the front end raise quicker when you jam the throttle on take off.

Put this on the back and it will stop the nose diving.
