Post subject:  what front end?

I am wanting to start my build, but can't decide what to do. I can decide if I want a kingpin front end or to go with a arms. I would really like to do an a arm but don't want to spend a fortune on shocks. I would really like to do an air bag a arm front, but I think that I would have to do some sort of cantalever to work the airbags. But this is just more moving parts to build and work on in the woods. I guess I am leaning towards a kingpin with raised spindles. What are your guys thoughts on it?

KP with raised spindles is gonna be alot cheaper.

Not to mention the parts availability, and your going to need parts.

What kind of buggy? What kind of riding?

KP with 1x2 arms works awful well for the money on a avg sized buggy for hillclimbing n basic trailriding. (Conventional, 100"- 106" or so, 2000lb or less)

Bigger/heavier buggies, or if you like jeep trails (rock gardens), A -arm n airbags might be worth the time n trouble.

I have a bus front end,,,wider than beetle stock,, and heavy duty,,,read heavy,,,it takes a lot of fabbing to do. I want to go A-arm someday because I like the fabbing challenge. I don't see the air bags being any problem,,the problem I see with A-arm is it is going to take a lot of prep work,,read chopping,,,to just get started. And it will cost about as much as a beetle beam in bushings or heims. But it will be fun. In the mean time I am looking at converting my bus beam to air bags....it's gonna look like a space creature but ,,,,so :?:

Most of the "real chain drive" buggys do run A-arm's to get the front travel equal or close to the rear travel..I just think it is cool 8)

KP and 1x2 arms ought to be just fine for that.

What is the strongest front end? I need a setup that can take fast trails, hard hits from hill climbs and hard landings. Witch is the best way to go.

Nothings for ever .If you want very strong you will lose on the weight side .Probably the best thing is to start off cheap  if there is such a thing .And figure it out everyone has his or her favorites. I built my wife 3 buggy's so far ,The first was a 98 in light buggy with cut grooved ditch diggers ,She done pretty well front end was in the air a lot,But that's climbing .Then I built her a buggy with a 8 in over front beam ,4 over WW arms ,WW king kong spindles, coil overs,2276 ,built tranny [put it in a box sent it too the coast with 1500 bucks and they sent me back a tranny ] 3x3 arms 930 set up and she done very well ,Then I built her a CD she said I should have never built all that other STUFF and I should have built this from the get go.I am inclined to believe her .This is jmo and hers. I have sold her buggy now I am building her a A-Arm buggy It will be the SHIT There again JMO
The thing I like the most about my buggy is I can go ride anywhere .I am not limmited to the places
