I have never seen this before but out West they are doing trailing arms with the shock mount on top. I guess its been done for years on race cars but I never noticed. With the forward slanted shock towers and a high top rail they are getting 20" plus of front travel. I found it interesting so I thought I would share. The topic is posted on http://www.glamisdunes.com

i bent my stock beam on mem wknd. a tree at about 20 mph. Anyway im on a budget and and i just have stock arms for now but i was considering making my own shock mounts while im in threre. Also going to mount my steering rack. I was looking at my stock arms after reading this and it looks like the bottom and top could be swapped. Any reason they cant be? If not i may just mount my shocks on top that way. |

no, you cant just switch them. the bottom arm sticks out further than the top. ![]() as you can see, I had to build the beam a little shorter on top. |

Yes you need the shorter on top to allow the suspension to work. Otherwise at about half compression your tire is going to be leaning out with about +5 degrees of camber. Not even to mention your bumpsteer |
