| Post subject: | Installing a torsion core |
i am building my first buggy. I need to know the steps in wich you installe your torsion core to your frame. Do i need a bus torsion core or a bug. I plan on using 3x3 trailing arms, 6 rib bus trany, and an engine in the 2000cc range. I am using rear coil over shocks also. |

Personally if I had to put a torsion in I would go with a custom unit. They are lot lighter even after adding the tubing to weld it in. They also do not have stops that have to be ground off. You can make your own horns (or buy a readymade setup from Berrian. VWs are made of stamped steel and have to be welded up etc. |

The quick and fast rule is to lay the torsion housing on a level surface so the lower flats of the horns sit flat on the level surface. Center up the tubes of the chassis floor, both in front and at the housing, up to the center of the housing tube on both sides. The bottom of the floor should be some where around 2"off that level surface. Center it up side to side and tack it. Again, the floor of the chassis and the lower section of the horns are parellel with each other and the floor tubes and the housing tube be centered as well. |
