rear bearings are worn out. when i tore down it has the ball type bearing for the inner and outer. i am assuming that this means that it is prior to 1969 setup. question is can i change to the roller style outer bearing and use the same spacers that i already have? is there any reason why i should or should not change to the newer outer bearing?

if it had ball type bearings in the inner and outer, its wrong,if i can remeber right, ball bearing goes inner and roller goes outer,i may be backwards, auto zone has them and can tell you
