This may be an obvious question, but does everyone run a skid plate under there transmission? I have a steel skid plate under the engine but not the transmission. I planned on fabricating one but didn't know if it was a big deal or not.

i never ran one and had no problems ever of my tranny hitting anything. i know a lot of people that do not have them. my new frame however does have one, if it didn't i would not add it.

I no longer run a skid plate under my transmition because I went to pull it off one day and it had about 3 inches of solid dirt under it. There is almost no way you can wash the mud out from underneath the skid plate. It weighed about a ton with all that dirt. I have no problems not running one.

From the looks of my skidplate,,I would have busted a tranny or two myself. Mine is heavy and it slows me down but it is kinda like insurance,,,,

Got one in mine. And judging by the scrapes under there, I would have junked a couple of cases myself without it.

i wood never run without a trans skid plate. seen more than one trans lost that way and when instaled right it helps slide over stuff without getting hung on your motor skid plate.

Hmmm! let me think here..dumb...dumb...dumd...dumb...run a Skid plate or risk a broken trans and being towed back to camp. I think I will run a skid plate and buy a vowel please.
