This may be an obvious question, but does everyone run a skid plate under there transmission? I have a steel skid plate under the engine but not the transmission. I planned on fabricating one but didn't know if it was a big deal or not. |

i never ran one and had no problems ever of my tranny hitting anything. i know a lot of people that do not have them. my new frame however does have one, if it didn't i would not add it. |

I no longer run a skid plate under my transmition because I went to pull it off one day and it had about 3 inches of solid dirt under it. There is almost no way you can wash the mud out from underneath the skid plate. It weighed about a ton with all that dirt. I have no problems not running one. |

I poked a hole in my six rib from a rock on a ride cuz I didn't feel like putting the trans skidplate back on |

From the looks of my skidplate,,I would have busted a tranny or two myself. Mine is heavy and it slows me down but it is kinda like insurance,,,, |

Got one in mine. And judging by the scrapes under there, I would have junked a couple of cases myself without it.

i wood never run without a trans skid plate. seen more than one trans lost that way and when instaled right it helps slide over stuff without getting hung on your motor skid plate. |
