Post subject:  fox air shock qustions....
im thinking about going to the fox airshock and do away with the tortions but just hate to spend the money on the coil overs right now....

so is there any disadvantage to the airshocks.....??]

Price! :shock: Tuning the air shocks will be cheaper. Nitrogen, oil and valving control an air shock. I bought a nitrogen tank and all the adapters to adjust the pressure and it wasn't cheap but now I can change pressure as much as I want to. Coil overs aren't much different aside from having different spring rates and pre-load. Spring sets aren't cheap and if you don't get it right it could get expensive. I found Fox air shocks cheap on Pirate4x4. They are used a lot on rock crawlers. I think coil overs will provide better results but it comes down to budget, I'm somewhat cheap.

and the place im thinking about getting them said they would valve them and all if i tell them the weight of each back corner and the tire and tire size and that they would be dead on or really close to being right....

400 shiped and set up ....

That depends on how much the back of your car weighs. The Fox 2.0 air has a weight limit I think it's 500lb a corner.

Actually a 2.0 will support 1000 pounds per corner of sprung weight. Figure in your unpsrung weight of wheels, tires, brakes and all that crap they will support a lot of weight. Generally speaking they could support a 5000 pound vehicle. Check out this thread for some general tips and info. Used I paid $500 for all 4 of mine.

The 2.0 racerunners can handle 1000lbs per corner.

One thing to add to the dynamics of air shocks is that you will experience more body roll than with coil overs and or torsions.

That is true, a buddy of mine was running air shocks on his rock buggy and hates it because of the body roll and also has no control of the machine as well as he does now with the coil-over he's got on it now. It could work good on the buggy, who knows, trial and error. Let us know how it does.
