Post subject:  Repair needed.
I removed my treebars tonight and found this problem. The frame is bent and cracked where the t-bar was attached. What is the best way to patch the frame?

Roll it down some more hills ! I think the proper way would be to remove the entire section and replace it, that is what we did in the race car. Or the easy way would be to section it out and replace the section. If you go the easy way, I would gusset it when you weld the treebars back on. Just my 2 cents.

Every time we have spliced in a piece of tubing we would cut the section out and use a smaller diamater tube to go inside the new section. A few plug welds and a solid bead at the seam and you should be fine. The best way is replace the entire section but thats not always easy. I find that 1.5" .095 wall tube can be slugged with 1.25 O.D. tubing with a wall of at least .095. It may not fit real tight but once you put a few plug welds in, it won't go anywhere.

I did the same with mine after multiple rolls, sectioned it. I used a solid rod that fit in the tubing and then added extra braces also.
