Post subject:  has anyone done airbags on a baja beetle?

Working on a baja I bought a few weeks back. I want to do air bags with on board air. Was wondering if anyone has done them or has pictures of them. Have 3x3 arms right now it has about 23" of ground clearance. putting an ecotec in her. The problem I'm having is the lack of space under the rear so I'm not sure if I can run the 3800 bags like on most people's buggys.

Also do I have to get a special set of torsion eliminators for the 3x3 arms?

Any help would be appreciated! !

No difference between the Baja chassis and most buggies except for the lack of room as you mentioned. I would do whatever I had to do to run that # 3800 bag in that car. Any bag smaller than the # 3800 will make you run a higher static air pressure, the higher the pressure the stiffer the ride.
You "should" run a set of torsion eliminators and remove the dead weight. Some folks think they are getting away with something by setting the torsion bars into a "neutral" position. All they are doing is screwing up what could be a nice ride with those bars still attached.

I love my bags but I can't seem to get mine to quit leaking thru the threads I tryed Teflon tape and dope but they leak like 10lbs a weekend of hard riding

Ive got two buggys with bags and mine does the same. I tried fixing it at first then just gave up. We have onboard compressors

Mine did the same. Tried pipe dope then tape. I finally did what the instructions said and used locktite. It worked. Who would ever have thought the instructions was right..lol

What kinda lock tite do you put on to seal threads like the same type as for bolts

I would never thought it would work, because it's so thin like water. But it did.
