I recently broke one of my torsion bars, and am going to order new ones soon. My buggy currently has swingaxle torsion bars with the swing springplates cut to work with an IRS setup. I have seen this mentioned as a "slick set up" but nobody has explained why, Any ideas on that? My theory would kinda be the opposite because in my mind the shorter torsion bars would be more likely to break, I have the stuff to convert it the the longest torsion bars but wanted to get a feel for what other people had experienced before I but the new bars. lol! short ones were for tire clearance b4 3x3's came out. Type 3 bars will slide in and give a great ride . They are 23 mm and bug is 21.5 AND you don't have to twist them hard as woodpecker lips to get hieght . For those in Bhm, there is a type 3 at Pull a Part in the antique section with good stub axles , no brakes. |

Why bother with the labor when bags are sooooo cheap. Those torsion bars are pain in the A$$ not worth the labor. Set em, re-set em. Air boats infinite adjustment with an on board compressor it's like a caddy Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I had entertained the idea of airbags but didn’t realize that they were about the same price as the bars. Guess its time to get the welder out, lol. |

I run the type 3 bars and air shocks from an older Chevy truck not a bad ride at all considering the cost. |

If adding bags, why not just take the torsion bars out and use the spring plate as the pivot for the trailing arm? Not a lot of weight difference between the spring plate and aftermarket torsion eliminators. Unless you are going to take the complete torsion housing out. The bars do nothing to keep the trailing arm in place set |
