Back when I was into buggies this was the norm but now it's a rarity. Is there a reason why? My new buggy has 3x6s is why I ask...lol

That's all I ever ran on ever 2 seater I owned , those with buckshots are perfect , in fact I have a set now for sale , 4x5 arms are more stress because they are back another inch 3x6 arms were on most every buggy in fultondale & jemison back when I rode there with my 2 seater & sway away axles is not going to break !

I've had 3x8's ,3x6, 3x4 and 3x2's. I'm tellin ya with all my heart, get as narrow as you can. You will see an ugly rock comin twds you and you realize you HAVE to hit it. The crowd goes, "Everybody else got up the hill, what happened to you? You will loose a lot of playing field in the narrow climb. Another issue...You will often have a different soil, rock or grip for each tire and you will always be wearing out the cut brakes. While you are wrestling your buggy, the guy in front of you goes on up to the top. Often you have to put one wheel in the grass or up high on the bank. And the NO. 1reason! With tires further out, say you have 1 tire with so-so grip and the the other grabs a no slip lip death grip. YOU WILL FISH TAIL!. I may have built some failures in my day but the best thing I ever came up was the NARROW baby chains. I don't think I ever NEED cut brakes. It's 78" wide with 14"wide tires. One other thing. Your trailing arm bushings take a beating. The WEDGE buggy is actually a 31x1 and puts the 400+lb Buick 3800 right where it needs to be. And it will beat the hell out of the rocks instead of the rocks beating the hell out of bushings and knocking me back. And it just floooaaats over them sooo gooood! Now buy my trans and tires I have posted! lol

I like a wider arm you can get more height with less angle and more stable sideways on a hill

We've got 6x6's now, although with the mounts altered on the chassis to keep the wheel track in check (roughly 6ft6" iirc), which will be running with 30" shafts.

longe raxles will take alot of the stress away from the trans too. they act like springs absorbing the shock load from the tires. My race buggy has 29" axles. I think the arms I made are somthing like 9" wider and 7" longer than stock.

Yep, well, unless you use U-joints and splines anyway!

 :o

I always thought your buggy looked fairly compact, she must be massive at the side of ours?
