I run the stock snap ring in the rear stub axle bearing housing . On my new buggy I am building I cant find any snap rings...all say out of stock . I was told these arent actually necessary to run that once the stub axle nut is tightened the bearings cant move in the housing .

What do you guys think and what was vw's reason for them ?

I would not run it with out them myself. I understand what your saying but the spacer holds the center of the bearing and the snap ring holds the outer part of the bearing.jmo. Chad
