I bent a balljoint spindle spud in the middle of the spud where the taper is that i had welded onto my king pin spindle. Now, my question is, would it be unwise to heat my spud up with a torch after I weld it on and quench it with oil to prevent this from bending? I'm not sure of the material, I bought them from Jim's Custom VW, and he had them made, they are NOT empi spuds. So, I assume they are most likely a mild steel. Any input on this before I weld it on tonight? And yes, my weld held fine, and it did not bend near the weld, for everyone that is going to question that. |

DONT DO IT. with out knowing what the spindle is made of you might get them too hard and they will snap ! you want them a little soft but strong . you cant change the strength of the steel by hardening it |
