Post subject:  airbag fittings

whats best to use for sealing the fittings on the bags? i used the teflon tape or whatever, but i went out to the garage after work today, and they had slowly leaked off. maybe use more ? lol :mrgreen: thanks for the help

im not sure cause i dont have airbags but you do know that teflon tape might not seal good if not put on properly! it has to be wrapped in the direction of the thread, 4 or 5 full wraps. but these guys might use something specific, if not , make sure there wrapped correctly, hope it helps ya!

Run the thread tape counter clockwise when you tape and ck with soapy water for were your leak is first , also check shader valve for leak .

i had it wrapped the right way, i took it apart retaped them cranked them down and threwm in the bath tub to check for leaks. :lol: :lol: :mrgreen: think im good to go now, i was just wondering if you guys were doing something different. thanks guys

Forget the tape use Teflon paste, or any thread sealing paste for that matter

You can go to your local HVAC supply house and get some stuff called leak lock, it works very well. We use it on the valve caps on A/C units to seal them up, they also have serious pressure on them to.

X2 The tape is junk! :!: ! I have had leaks with it my self (oil cooler lines). The paste is where it at. :wink:

If you want the convenience of tape get the double-thickness 'one wrap gas spec' type stuff - it's 0.2mm instead of the usual 0.075mm thick crap you get from most stores.
