I got my steering column and bearing today. im trying to figure out where to place it. all the pics ive seen show the steering bearing mounted below the dash bar but mine seems to put the wheel to low there. any ever mount it on top of the dash bar?

was thinking the same myself! i dont see how it could hurt . what kind of sterring set up do you have? stock in stock location? if so just make sure the angle isnt all crazy at the steering coupler, and if it is, using that weld on type of bearing will allow you to cut the steering shaft and add a steering knuckle or two to get the angle right  my 2 cents!

top should be fine, jus keep in mind the angle of the steering knuckle at the box (or rack) so you have no binding..i would tack everything together and sit in the seat, turning the wheel making sure everything is smooth and clears like it should

stock steering location and all. bottom of steering wheel is 8" from my seat and it feels pretty good it blocks my view just a little bit and the top of the steering wheel protrudes through so no chance of a windshield but someday im gonna redo it with a rack and pinion.

jus a option, but race shops sell a mount that holds two hime joints, the steering shaft slides through two himes with a UV joint betweent the mount and your steering box..it welds to the bar but you can angle it to what ever you want and when when you decide to swap to a rack it wont have to be changed, jus the shaft to your rack...and you can adjust the himes in the mount to get the wheel jus where you want it
