After tearing the splines out of my chassis at speed I have decided to go with coilovers. I am running a mid travel 4 seat buggy. While looking at shock options I found FOA to be interesting, also FOX or Sway Away. Any feedback on any of these would be greatly appreciated.

They are all excellent manufactures, just price separates them. I have FOA going on the front of my single seater, and I'm sure now most of their issues have been sorted out. Their shop burned to the ground not to long ago. I would look into all of them and let the best shock win.

the fourseater i recently picked up has fox coilovers..the buggy rides great, and they are fully adjustable so you can tune them to your style of ridin. im not sure of the spring rating or length but i will look 2moro and see what they are, maybe that will help eliminate some of the guess work

Unfortunatly just because they are both 4 seaters means nothing on what springs to use as they can be a lot different on both buggys, due to shock mounting angles, trailing arm length and buggy weight.

I have run fox, king and sway away. The are all great shocks. cant complain about anything with anyone of them. I would just go with the best price

Just got back from the King of the Hammers, and all the shock manufactures were there. King treated us like gold. They took more time with the racers and all off there springs and revalving was free for the racers. No one else was doing that. I met the owner Lance King and all the employes were real helpful. I would go with Kings.

King is good, up until you put a price tag on their stuff. All the azz kissing isn't worth the cost. Afco use to do the same with us running sprint cars, wine ya and dine ya, then stick it to ya when you ponied up to buy something. Fox is fine FOA is just as good, they just might not pucker up to ya.

unfortuatly king doesnt venture out this way too often to show any of us that support, so that wouldnt make my mind up. Drews sells sway away, and if I am going to spend that kind of money, I would spend it with a business that supports our hobby and website. any way you go, they are all top notch!

When I was shopping shocks, I ended up with kings because I could get them cheaper.

I had a buddy just get back from racing koh. And fox worked with him for 2 days before the race revalving his shocks and changing springs till they got it right. And during the race he bent a shaft so they took their display apart and fixed his. But that's advertising I think they all do it.

Both King and Fox on the 2.0 use a 7/8" shaft, FOA uses a 3/4" shaft.

a cole and myself got them pretty cheap from a guy on ebay. much cheaper than I could have gotten fox for. you can also get the fox with a 3/4" shaft. king and sway away are only 7/8" shafts. sway away shocks have bigger heims and 2-1/2" reservoirs standard.

A guy I race with runs FOA. he did have some issues with them, but FOA did take care of them. Dont know If I would buy them or not. Not knocking them, just not to sure about them in general.

I had MAJOR problems with them. I bought the first set of 10" piggy back reservoir coil overs from them. The spring divider would have crashed into the piggy back reservoir if I hadn't been paying attention. They changed the design based on my specks and the problem was solved. There were several minor problems with fit and finish that were easily fixed, they fired several people, problem solved. I think I would still buy from them, lots of time has passed since then, they learned what they needed to learn. For the money, and how they worked on my black car, worth the energy and the aggravation.

Never had any trouble with the Foxes, easy to service, easy to get hold of parts, just wish they had more adjustment!

I have swayaway i got from Drews about 4 years ago on the a-arm buggy . Good so far

How are the lower uni-balls holding up? Everyone around here seems to be eating them up.

my foxes eat lower uni balls up all the time! I think thats because they are in the front hanging down low and getting in all the dirt. Fox and king 2.0 shocks run little uniballs where sway away 2.0 shocks have the same size uniballs and fox and king 2.5". I havent noticed my SAW uniballs getting sloppy yet. sorry ody, I ment 5/8". The 'ol brains getting rusty! havent built a buggy in about 2 years now.

Mine used to, but I put some decent ones in and covered them with neoprene boots, never had any problems since. Like you say, they don't like the crap that gets thrown in them, never had any trouble with the rears but they're not dangling in the dirt. (well, neither are the fronts now)

My swayaways are doing good .The uni-balls are bigger then most 2'' shocks . The shocks are double shear on the top and bottom on the a-arm buggy.
