has anyone on here split the front torsion apart and twisted each tube individually and rewelded for clearance? it would be like tipping the torsion backwards with out tipping it. pros or cons? i assume you would have to change the shock hoop but what other problems would arise or are there any? camber and caster dramatically changed?

Alot of people twist the front beam . Its an easy way to raise the front end.It really only works good on king pin beams because you max out the ball joints in a ball joint beam really quick. Raised spindles are the easiest way to increase ground clearance with minimal ill effects.

You only cut the tube on each side of the center of the beam pinch bolt.
I would only do the top tube, 1/4 in. twist at 1st, tack it drive it,then adjust more if needed.
It's real easy to turn your front axle into a pogo stick.
The amount of twist is determined by how heavy your front is.

You can also buy a weld in adjuster. You just cut the center section out and weld the adjuster in. I think dans performance has them.

yea i would do what kevin said will be alot nicer and work better my dads buggy was cut and twisted and to me its junk

i got the adjusters on mine and some dipsh!t welded the adjusters in pointing down... needless to say i catch the crap out of that double bolt on bottom. til i welded it adjusted as tight as it will go that is. the upper isnt totally tight but that torsion is spittin out the the little flat bars... was really just curious who has done it and its ill effects. hopefully gonna grab another bug here soon and was gonna "prototype" it.... or well i guess "passat2800" it... but i will have 3 extra torsions for front if i get the one i was lookin at... depends on if it lives up to what i was told. if that occurs i am just pullin my old one off here and was tryin to find some clearance other than some 7.50 tires like i am bout to stick on it..
