i have a 6 inch wider beam with 3 inch drop spindles its also a baljoint beam with saco rack it snatches the wheel horribly would this be the drop spindles causing it and if so what size arms should i go with to get my height back where it is now

Just like bug said , put it in line with your steering shaft and put a power steering pump on your motor and run lines to it and then a beer in one hand and steer with the other ! 8)

If you dont get a Charlynn do you have enough caster, next, way too tall tires. 3rd too much bump steer,and do you have a dead steering dampner?Back to the raised spindles , you raised the spindles , but did you position them about an inch to the rear like a stock position.Caster means like the wheel on a shopping cart. Just trying to help.If you have the spindle mounted ahead ANY of the ball joints, 2 gorillas can't even steer it.

i did not make them they was on it when i got it but they could be off and no i have no dampener ima mount a rancho one and see if that helps if not ima look into it more

Consider this. Me and Austin, really really REALLY love our A arms. Mine is pwr steering, his has a cadillac rack and pinion but no power running to it. Turns extremly sharp and perfect.$15 at Pull a part .After people drop a cady motor there is one 1/2" bolt left and it is loose from the car.It is the same GM rack from most any other front wheel drive car except it is 2 " wider.When you get in the gas the frame will lift over ruts stumps midgets etc.

Get a shock that pushes and pulls with the same resistance of coarse.You may buy a Rancho dampner , get it out of the box and realize you have no room in your buggy to mount it..So do your homework 1st.Not trying to be a know it all, it's just that I have made all of these mistakes b4.

If your frt wheels are reversed (turned around backwards with all offset to outside)turn them back around that will fix 90% of it been there done it and proved it with friends buggys 50-50 wheels will work good

Do you have any pictures of how and where the rack is mounted. I had the same problem. The rack was in the wrong location causing almost 3" of tow out when the suspension compessed. I would suggest checking the tow at ride height then at full compression and see what the change is.

I agree with this thinking. you have way too much bumpsteer. play with mounting location of rack untill your toe change is the least it can be throughout the suspenion travel.

The closer you can get the racks piviot points to the beam the less bump steer. Simple geomatry if you take your time and think about it. if the rod ends are in line with the beam (front trailing arm pivot) then the length will not change as it cycles through the motion. Must also be centered height wise with the ends at the spindles for this to work.

Hard to be certain from the pics but I think its the spindles. Could you take a top view of them??? Looks like the spud is forward of the piviot, instead of behind and acting like a caster like the guys mentioned befor. Also looks like the center of your tire is a ways out from the balljoints/piviot points. both would cause a lot of feedback from the tires to the steering wheel if I am correct. I am sure some of these guys can either confirm this or correct me if I am wrong.

thanks for the feedback and i will get a pic from the top tomorrow and post it i have some stock spindles i may throw on their if thats the case and just deal with the less ground clearance im tired of breaking my wrist and fingers lol

Well I agree with Jayrod from another post. I had problems with that when I went to a manual chevy steering box. But when I went to power steering it went away. Any way you go, I strongly recomend the power steering. I can drive down most trails with my knee as long as I dont need to clutch. Great for lighting a smoke, but you need "The Vest", lmao. :mrgreen: As far as your spindles, if I am right you may just need to tweek them a bit. I really dobt the the lift itself is causing the problems as much as the geomotry. May also look into VW Thing spindles, I know Jayrod seems to be happy with his set.

you need to put stock vw wheels back on, the one's you have don't have correct back spacing
