Ok so i am completely lost.. How do u adjust the camber on a kingpin front end? My front drivers side tire is very far from being straight. I replaced the pins and balljoints thinking that might have someone to do with it since they were worn out. I have turned the pins every which way u can imagine, still nothing. I removed all the shims in the top king pin and have as many as u can possibly put on the bottom pin and the top of the tire still leans way out. When u roll the buggy forwards the tire stays towed out on the top, but if u roll the buggy backwards the tire magically straightens up :? Is there something that im missing here??? I have exhausted myself trying to figure this out..

There is no camber adjustment on a link pin suspension. The only adjustment is toe. Either the upper arm is bent out or the lower arm is bent in, which is my bet. The shims are only to make up for any SLIGHT differences in forging and machining of the parts from the factory. Suggest replacing the offending arm. There is a chart, which I can not find, that shows the proper shim stack for the arms. That shim stack is only to keep the interface between the arm and the carrier spaced properly.

check the bushings in the beam. sounds like your arms are floating around

Do you vw stg box or rack-n-pinion steering?

It has a VW steering box

The arms do not appear to be bent in or out... Everything was straight before having to drive/pulled out of the woods on one front tire (The tire that is now cockeyed)... Nothing is physically loose.. the tire is just sittin sideways with a lean

My car was doing something very simalar but i have a rack-n-pinion from a grand am in my car and my steering geometry is not perferct. I had to much toe in. When i adjusted to just a slight bit of toe out my problems disappeared. It was doing as you described but mine was doing it on both sides. Pull forward and both tires would walk outward at the top. pull backwards and they would return to a more straight up position. :? :?: :roll: :?

Check to make sure your spindle is not tweaked.

What you explain what happened in the woods and how you got out? That may shed some light on the issue and help identify what might be wrong..

to check the beam bushins just try to roll the front tire back and forth and see if the arms wiggle in the beam.
