I've been doing some back tracking, after changing transmitions. Adding mid mounts and upper bell housing mounts. Figured I'd check the CV's. These are the EMPI race prep 930s. After taking the first apart and cleaning, I 've gotten confused as to which way they should go to gether, which may have been wrong to begin with. What I believe is that the side of the Cv body with the extra groove, faces the flange. The star gear's raised face, towards the boot and axel, ( which I originaly thought faced the spiral lock or flange ) Then there is the cage, which shows signs of rubbing on alternating sides between the ball slots. The cage is different from one side to the other; narrow edge on end with wider inner edge, compared to a wider edge on the end and narrower inner edge. (I'll try to get a pic tomorrow ). Just want to get the correct orientation of the three components. I can assemble them and know to clock them, but my manuals are n't specific enough for these ones. Any info, thanks Dave. |

Here are some good pictures: http://www.outfrontmotorsports.com/cv_assembly.htm I never noticed offsets in the cage but I'm running Lobro's. |

OK, thanks. I may have had the cage orientaion backwards. Its not that the ball slots are off set in the cage, just shinny wear spots on the out side of the cage. |
