Post subject:  Been away to long.

Sorry for being away so long. I have been fighting the economy. Despite what Washington lies they tell us, I have managed to keep my house and shop.
There has not been time for fun.

Here is some fun work I did last month.
This was done on a 1/2 ton who's owner kept destroying 10 bolts. I recommended a Detroit locker and upgraded axles. I told him one of our group has a 1998 Suburban 1/2 ton IFS with welded diffs front and rear on very used 40" TSLs, stock axles, not lifted wheel opening made larger. He is ruthless to it. Not stupid ruthless. There is no obstacle or rock he won't try. He is working on a 241 doubler. He likes to piss off people with his $800 IFS and $200 Swampers. Still wanted 14 bolt.
Back to the story.
This was done on a 1/2 ton who's owner kept destroying 10 bolts. I recommended a Detroit locker and upgraded axles. He insisted on a 14 bolt. I suggested a six bolt 14 bolt. No only a eight bolt 14 bolt would do. I installed it.
Next words out of his mouth were the front rims don't match. I suggested the steel adapters. "I don't want the tires to stick out." I said custom offset rims.
That did not fly. I said This is going to get expensive.

These pictures are the results of money thrown at a problem. Pictures are from photo bucket.

The machine work came out nice. The top half of the rotors had .002" run out
I doubt it would be felt in the pedal while braking but a took a .003 cut anyway.
