This year I have not been on Woodsbuggy much. If you have been on AzBaja.com you may have seen by my banner ad. I have gone back to full time work. :(
One of my first new customers had a bit of bad luck. Here is his new basket case engine. This engine has 500 and quit running. It was built and installed by a now defunct west side shop.
Customer stated it ran and would quit. Finally it locked up.

Any sharp eyes see what wrong with pic 1 and 2.
Real pride here using rusted parts. 8O

Enough silcone in the next pictures to build 50 VW engines. Note the three different silicone used must of been for specific location use.

Combined with stock heads stock valve springs and stock push rods this was a real perfect choice for a cam.

While not a problem starter this just reflects how much pride the builder had.

Note the pinched bearing. While only nicked it siezed the bearing and ruined to case.

I guess they spent to much for silicone and could not afford sump nuts.

See whats missing when you buy chrome tin?

Also the upper head bolts and washers were case nuts and washers. I've only seen one built worse than this on and it was one that was installed with no cylinder tin. Stay tuned for more.

holy crap.
Thats how A/C VW gets rep for poor reliability. If you build from junk, you get junk, no matter what type of engine.

I'm glad that shop is now defunct!
