Hey all. I'm another newcomer to this great site. I'm a 30something year old mechanic from peculiar mo. I've had several buggies over the years but my current ride is a 78 shortback I found for a $100 rusted up and stripped of everything but the mo title. I hope to start a new buggy project this winter but with 4 kids its hard to find the time and the $$$$$ now a days.

Welcome, I think thats the same buggy I'm building up for my daughter. Was wondering what frame it was.

Frames are quite a bit different.
Rear hoop on the red one tilts same as the windshield hoop, towards the back.
I'm thinking this is an old Rebel buggy from Deal automotive.
Berrien has made them for Deal in the past but not that one.

Jason your rear hoop tilts forward, opposite slant of the windshield.
Your windshield hoop is laid back at an angle and the drops straight down to where it's welded to the top rail of the frame.
Very characteristic of a Berrien Buggy specifically a 902 shortback.

Welcome ditchdigger.........

Thanks for the warm welcome. I bought this frame 9 or so years ago from a guy I worked with. I think it's a old
pro-tech but i'm not sure.

Thanks, not a lot of hills around here so we play where we can. I damn near sunk it when I hit that hole, we had to pull it out enough to rescue my cell phone, camcorder, and my wifes brand new camera that i had strapped to the floor in a army box. thank god it didn't leak. my wife would of killed me
here is a few pics that didn't load for some reason.

welcome, nice pictures.

Next time you should just unhook the canoe and carry it to the water rather than trying to float it off the roof.

It has a special construction missouri title. I know a guy who took the time to build a buggy, had all the reciepts and even a Certificate of Origin for the frame but got lazy I guess and didn't want to deal with the highway patrol to get a builders title. He just slapped the vin from the beatle on it, insured it, and went. Well, a couple of years ago he rear ended somebody at a stop light and the insurance refused to pay becouse it wasn't a beatle. He had to pay 3k in damages and all kinds of tickets for it.

Mine is titled as a 71 beatle. Was thru progressive who was ok with a buggy. Geico wouldn't do it and now I'm on another issurance here in indiana who is also ok with it. If you title one as a buggy, make damn sure that your insurance company is ok with it.
