Hey all. New guy here. My name is chris, and I'm north of memphis by 30 miles or so. Looks like a great site, thought I'd get in on it. Still workin on my buggy, but its by far the most fun thing I ever owned. Been and rode at Bruton a few times and cant wait to go back. Is anyone on here close to where I live?. |

Thanks for the welcome. I'll get some pics up as soon as I figure out how. I read the post on how to do it but honestly I'll probably have to get one of these teenagers to help. My buggy is nothin fancy, nowhere close to these monsters I have seen here. Will be one day though. For now a basic long back frame, flat top car with an almost stock 1600. Upgraded my suspension this year, added 2x3 arms to it, awesome investment. |

Thanks, not the best pictures, but its what I had handy. I need to take some new ones. So, I'm curious, do a lot of folks on here still run air cooled? Seems to be a lot of talk about water cooled motors. I'm all for running whatever you like, I just prefer my vw's. Its all about having fun anyway. This is the best thing I ever found for me and my kids to go out and do. |

Thanks. To me there's just something kinda cool about takin that little vw and makin it do things some folks would never think possible. Plus, I ain't smart enough to work on the w/c. But then, I don't get as crazy as some of the things I've seen on here. I enjoy the hills, but as a single dad with four kids, I need to be able to drive it back on the trailer so I can afford to get it back out the next time. |

Never seen Star Trek. And I am gonna pass on seein your brother naked. I must really be the new guy, cause I seem to break something every time I hit the woods. On the bright side though, I am getting really good at bein towed out. Oh well, the buggy is a hell of a lot better than what I started out with and will only get better as funds allow. Next will be a bus trans and disc brakes. One piece at a time. |

I know what you mean. Breaking only makes me want to make it better. I guess side x side could be fun in their own way, but I would much rather be out on the trails in something that I built myself. I grew up around vw's and buggies. When I was a kid in the mid/late 70's my dad and grandpa were building buggies off cut down vw pans. I still have the two they built. They ran all stock everything, and had a blast on the sand bar at the MS river. That's what I remember most about bein a kid, and that's what got me into it as an adult. Or at least now that I'm an almost 40 overgrown kid anyway. Now my kids love it to. The fight over who is gonna be in that right side seat. Except my 17 year old son, cant keep him off the dirt bike, unless I let him drive my buggy. Although, he has mentioned wanting a buggy of his own lately. Maybe there is hope for him after all... |
