Have any pics, nice to see what you have to begin with.

The top corners of the windshield bar are the weakest point in a frame like you've got. I have a Berrien frame and the cage is made pretty much like yours. I added the X brace behind the seats and have looked around for a way to put a brace to the corners of the windshield bar without it being a nightmare. I drive mine on the street alot in the summer and wouldn't be able to use a design like Curt has in the second pic though it would be the strongest. If I ever build a dedicated hill climbing buggy it will have a brace in that location.

I have seen several buggies roll and never seen one that took a hit to the windshield bar enough to cause it to buckle, bent them a little bit, but not buckle. One lucky hit is all it would take though cause once that bar buckles you could bend it by hand.

I think one thing that most of us have going for us is the light weight of our buggies and the rounded tops that cause them to roll instead of taking a solid hit. If you had them weighing 2 ton like a average car then they would need to be braced as much or more than a NASCAR.

my buggy was the same frame but it was shorter yours was extended but it rolled 2 full times sideways and it held up but it did bend the roof some i think if u were to have a hard impact like in my last roll it would be over so u def need to get some bracing in it before u go claiming the hills

Curt

I don't see how they help a whole lot, the top of the windshield bar would still be pushed down and back in a hard hit.

My buddy's bugged me about them and called them "chicken bar's" I love 'em along with the safety factor it's real easy to get in and out.

It should help put some extra room between the ground and your head in a barrel-roll over. And in my case the front windshield hoop is made of 3/16 wall 1 1/2'" D.O.M., if it bends I got bigger problems.
