Looks like a great idea. The only part on me that I hurt at all when I flipped was my knee smacking the dash bar. That wouldve prevented it.

I tried something similar to that and still got too much upward leg movement just sitting still and raising my legs. To be effective you're gonna need something down closer to the ankles too. I was thinking about trying to put a couple eye bolts in down near the pedals and making up a couple restraints from velcro to put around the ankles and then clip into the eye bolts. It won't have to be much cause there is not a lot of weight there and velcro would be easy to get off in an emergency. I might try putting the eye bolts back about the knee area so that the straps are not in the way so bad. It will take a little bit of playing around with mounting points to come up with the ideal location but I think it would work. 8)

Can these be retrofitted to work in a buggy?

Those are the basic idea but they are meant for someone in the seated position with their legs under them like in a SUV. Probably could make em work, just a matter of finding the best place to mount them so they have enough slack so that you can work the pedals.

In sprint cars we used something that looked like a rounded M that your legs, at about the knees, would fit into when seated. It went around the stearing gear, thing worked real well. Differance being in a sprint car you sit well above the floor and straight up.
I'm guessing but if there were a big need you could do something simular by mounting that M thing above your lower legs, with some room and padding it could work.
