I put crotch straps in mine just to be able to cinch down tighter. Kinda locks it all together seems to me.

Some racing sactioning bodies require dates less than 2 yrs, and ultaviolet damage from the sun can break down the belts. I wrecked a race car once and bent the alluminum racing seat I was in but the belts held, all 5

Crotch straps just hold the lap belts down around your waist and keep you from coming out the bottom of the seat and yes I run crotch straps. My belts are a six point design so it has two straps that go around each leg. I'll get some pics this weekend.

I run one. They can be a pain in the nuts, literally, but worth it to keep from sliding out in the floor of your buggy in a bad one.

I've thought about that too but haven't found a way to do it that wouldn't affect driving. My latest idea is to take a strap across the bars just above the legs down near the ankles and up just above the knees to give the legs something to bounce against that will give a little bit. I thought about using webbing like a seatbelt is made from and making it easily removable for general riding but quick to put on for a rough hill.

That belt shouldn't be that close. Something isn't install correctly.

I know the tighter the belts the less chances of getting hurt. In fact you might want someone else to tighten your belts right before you say "watch this", because they won't stop pulling just because it's getting to where you think it's too tight. Rule of thumb is: If you can move at all in your seat your belts aren't tight enough or you have the wrong seat and/or belts or the belts are installed improperly.

I want to come up with a strap to hold my legs down to keep them from colliding with the frame or going out side of the frame. After all those rollovers my legs and feet are all I've ever hurt.

The only times it has racked me was from hitting something when in forward motion and I did not have the rest of the belts pulled down enough. (Cut the wrong way a few times when I first installed single handled cutter, like a d.a.). You are right about pullin your straps tight.
When Clayton broke his neck, the only thing he was complainin about real bad at first was his junk hurtin'. I guess the roof forced his body down into the seat and forward and into the crotch strap. They are a necessity, though IMO.

when i flipped i had all five belts on and tight i did not hurt from the belts and the only reason i was knocked out was when i undid the belts i fell on the roof and hit my head lol i was in a hurry because the gas cap fell off from the hit so i did not think to put my hands down to catch my self

I walk around and look at other people's buggies, and look at their belts and think to myself, "what are you thinking?" Most of the shoulder harnesses are at wrong angles, or will go straight down their backs. Proper installation could save your life. If you read the instructions when you buy the belts, they'll tell you exactly what you need to know.

Dave, was that roll the one when you came down backwards off of Scooby Doo?

I can't stand to wear shoulder belts without the crotch belt. I always cinch it down first so I know the lap belt is down where it is supposed to be.
